Rubbish + Energy = Value!

Soon, Kinondo Kwetu Trust fund can dispose of rubbish in an environmentally friendly way, thanks to a Community Cooker project that has been made possible through donations by Kenia Frenn in Luxembourg and Base Titanium. The cooker will burn half a ton of rubbish in eight hours and will serve as a cooker for the hospital.

In the early 1990s, Jim Archer recognised the increasing environmental problem around Kenya, and that rubbish is a never-ending resource to produce energy if processed responsibly. With Mumo Musuva he began to develop designs for a very simple, inexpensive rubbish burner, which could also serve as a stove for cooking.
