Outreaches

Staff from Kinondo Kwetu Medical center regularly make outreaches to fight jiggers and other parasites among school going children.

The jigger parasite enters the feet, and sometimes also the hands, under the nails. The parasite is removed mechanically and shoes are given to prevent new attacks from the parasites.
The jiggers campaign was a part of the project Improved health, reduced infant and maternal mortality and reduced disease burden among school going children in Kinondo, that was funded by H & B Agerup foundation.

The jiggers parasite causes pain and fatigue and can make it difficult to walk and run
